The Cumulative effect

So you’ve finished work, got the dinner and now you sit down to your regular glass of wine each night.

You don’t really think about it because it’s a habit. You always have a glass of wine every evening to wind down before bed. 

In the morning you get up and have your usual coffee and a cigarette.

This doesn’t seem like much at the time on an average day, but if you take the cumulative effect of this over the course of months and years down the line.

What kind of effect will that have on your body?

What impact will it have on your overall health?

See, it’s often the little things added up over time that have the biggest impact.

In other words, it’s what we do every day that determines where we are years down the road.

You don’t just suddenly end up at the doctors with high blood pressure and health problems.

It’s this cumulative effect that has an impact on our goals.

The lesson to be learnt from the cumulative effect is to stay consistent.

We all want instant results and gratification but the key is to fall in love with the process of achieving a particular goal rather than the end result.

How do you begin to change your health? Take an apple a day.

Do 20 push ups every day. Consistency doing the small things will then build up to the visible outcome at the end.

Focus on the wins that you have on a day to day basis and give yourself a pat on the back.

You’d be surprised at how much fun you can have and how rewarding it can be to see yourself becoming better and healthier.

It just takes some adjusting your mind-set to accommodate the cumulative effect.
